Wedding Planning During a Pandemic

Don’t feel like reading? Watch our video instead!

So, you’re planning a wedding during a pandemic… Great! (make sure you read that with a little sarcasm haha).

We’re not going to harp on health and safety habits, that’s not our area of expertise and there’s an abundance of information out there for that. Obviously, this situation that we’re facing right now is not ideal, not for anyone, but especially not for you. The person who has been planning their wedding for months, a year, or their entire life! You’ve got the guy, you’ve got the happiness, you’ve got the plans and dreams, but you can’t execute on them. My heart goes out to you, this is a really sucky situation to be stuck in right now. Add in the extra stress in home life, work life, yada yada yada, and you’re doing great to not be a basket case right now, and if you are, I don’t blame you! I am too some days. You know that saying “Keep Calm and Carry On”? It’s never been more true then it is right now. Our version of that saying is “Keep Calm, and be open to new ideas”, unfortunately, your plans are going to change SOMEHOW. Whether it’s postponing your wedding, having a small wedding, or eloping, taking a deep breath and keeping your mind and heart open to new ideas is going to relieve a lot of stress for you.

In this blog, we wanted to discuss 2 options for all of you planning your wedding or having to make changes to your wedding that was planned to happen sometime soon.

Option 1: Move Your Wedding Outdoors!

After the initial lockdown in your area is lifted, we can more than likely still expect to see some form of social distancing to be in place, and we can still expect that certain measures are going to have to be taken to be extra careful for the foreseeable future. So, moving your wedding to an outdoor venue is definitely an option. What though if you’ve already booked an indoor venue? Well, it never hurts to ask if they have an outdoor option! Lots of vendors are being flexible, lenient, and super willing to work with their couples to still make their day perfect. Your vendors genuinely care about you, just like we do, and ultimately, we all want what’s going to be best for you.

Having an outdoor wedding might not be how initially envisioned your wedding day, but there’s tons of things you can do to still have the wedding of your dreams outdoors! I am a pinterest fiend, I absolutely LOVE pinterest, so if you want my help, I will hop on your pinterest board, add you on mine, create a new one with ideas specifically for you, let me know what you want or need, and I will do everything in my power to help you out!

Option 2: Small Wedding or Elope

Some people feel that having a huge wedding with every single family member involved, and every single friend you’ve ever had invited to share the day is the only way to have a wedding. If that’s truly what you want, then that’s great! It’s not wrong or bad in any way for you to have that kind of wedding. But it’s not your only option!!!

Eloping, or having a very small and intimate wedding is becoming more and more popular, and for good reason too. And eloping can be really really fun and exciting! Plus, just because you elope, doesn’t mean that you can’t still have a big party to celebrate with all of your friends and family later once all the restrictions are lifted.

A smaller wedding means fewer guests, which means there’s less of a likelihood of transmission between you and your guests, and you’re probably going to save some moo-lah too, which is definitely not a bad thing right now.

Manny and I strive to always be 100% transparent, so while we have not yet had the pleasure of photographing or filming an elopement, it is LITERALLY our dream. We are planning styled shoots to mimic an elopement, and we have tons of outdoor wedding and smaller wedding experience. WE WANT TO CAPTURE YOUR ELOPEMENT!

What’s The Takeaway

“Don’t mess with maui when he’s on a breakaway, and the tapestry here on my skin, is a map of the…..” Oh, my bad, we’ve clearly spent waaay too much time in quarantine with our daughter. Back to business:

Whatever decision you make, it HAS to be what is right for you and your soon to be house-spouse. There is absolutely no right or wrong, whether it’s postponing and having your big dream wedding, moving it to an outside location, or having a smaller intimate wedding, or eloping!

Remember, you’ve got a friend in me! I love helping couples plan their big day, giving suggestions, coming up with ideas, problem solving, I love it! So please do not hesitate at all to reach out and connect!

In the meantime, stay sane, stay healthy, and happy wedding planning!
