Diana and Kenny’s engagement photos were so fun to capture. Their sense of humor and interactions with each other were so unique, in the sense that they poked a lot of fun at each other, but had this calm and quiet sense of peace and safety within the relationship.
We decided on Lake Runnymede Conservation Area in St. Cloud as their Engagement Session Location. They loved the big oak trees, with hanging moss, and as a couples photographer, I love the variety that this one location offers. It also doesn’t fully feel like Florida, which helps to give our photos a Foresty vibe, rather than the typical beachy or tropical vibe that Florida is commonly associated with.

Part of the variety that this location offers, is tall grassy fields, and open fields with more scattered grasses. I love that this diversifies an Engagement photo gallery without the couple having to change their outfits.

For these photos, I really got to experiment and sharpen my skills with creating emotive images, or images that make you feel something, rather than focusing on solely taking pretty pictures.

This is a skill that takes a while to learn, it takes slowing down, thinking things through, and lots of subtle tweaks to my photographing process. I’ve come to learn that using a mixture of poses (yes! actually posing) in combination with prompts, is the key to being able to capture stunning couples photos that are also FULL of emotion.
