Initially we were concerned about how the weather would be for Dennis and Lexi’s wedding day, but we ended up having the most perfect weather we could have asked for in mid-January! It was a high in the low 60’s, partly cloudy, and not very humid… GORGEOUS weather and perfect for Lexi’s long sleeve wedding dress.

The ceremony and reception were at Winter Park Farmers Market in Winter Park, Florida. This venue is a former train depot with massive wooden sliding doors and beautiful brick walls. The rustic theme of the wedding went perfectly with the red brick, and the velvet green accents really popped. I absolutely loved the sweetheart table with an insane amount of candles, and the green velvet fabric draped across. When I asked Lexi + Dennis why they chose this venue, they said: “We wanted a more intimate, romantic wedding and the exposed brick, barn doors and hanging lights are a few things we loved about the venue.”

The ceremony was the first time the couple saw each other, and it was so special. Lexi was accompanied down the aisle by her dad first, and then transferred to her 2 sons who delivered her to Dennis, and then the ceremony was officiated by Dennis’s dad. One non-negotiable moment for us to capture on a wedding day is after the wedding ceremony when the couple is just married, and they’re being congratulated by their friends and family before family formals and wedding party pictures start. It’s a moment of raw emotion, and some of my favorite, most impactful, candid pictures have come from the minutes after a ceremony.

When asked about their favorite things about the other person, they responded:
Dennis about Lexi: “I love her smile, her kindness, and compassion.”
Lexi about Dennis: “He’s thoughtful, loving, selfless and kind. He’s everything a husband should be and more. Plus, his smile is to die for.”

Family and wedding party pictures were a doozy! The time always passes by so quickly, but even more so when there’s a large family and a large wedding party! I’m so grateful we had found this champagne colored wall when we met at the venue for our final consultation a few weeks before the wedding, because it was the perfect plain backdrop we needed for family pictures.

Something I always do before wedding days is create a physical and mental checklist of all the poses/prompts I want to use with the couple for their couples pictures. That way, we can make the absolute most out of the little bit of time we have for couples portraits. These couples pictures are in my opinion, some of the most important pictures to get of the whole day, so while we usually only get 15-30 minutes for couples pictures, we can get allllloooottt of variety in that short period of time.

Another thing I strongly encourage for all our couples, is to set aside 10-20 minutes during the reception for sunset photos. Usually this is when their guests are finishing up dinner, the couple has had a chance to eat something, and it’s relatively easy to sneak away one last time before the party really starts.

The reception was so fun! Something that I really loved, is that Lexi surprised her mom with a special mother daughter dance that left everyone with tears in their eyes. Throughout the whole day, you could tell just how close of a relationship they have, and how much of a rock Lexi’s mom is in her life, and that’s something that’s so special to me. After all of the special dances, dinner, sunset pictures, and cake cutting, there was so much dancing! The dj played a great mixture of Spanish dance music, oldies, hip hop, and he kept everyone on the dance floor!

When asked, Dennis said the most special moment of the wedding day to him was their first dance. Lexi, however, said her most special moment of the wedding day was their last dance. Here’s what she said: “Our last dance or as the DJ called it, our second first dance. Dennis is NOT a fan of country music. However, I am and I really wanted some country songs played at our wedding but when creating our playlist, that didn’t happen lol. So Dennis surprised me with having our DJ play Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton as our final dance together. It took me by surprise and was the cherry on top to the most perfect day.” Isn’t that the sweetest thing?!
